LNG Tanker GasLog Shanghai Struck Exiting the Strait of Hormuz

GasLog Shanghai, a Bermuda-flagged LNG tanker, was struck by a projectile while exiting the Strait of Hormuz on July 31, 2026. The blast hit the engine room. The tanker lost propulsion and was unable to maneuver.

GasLog Partners confirmed the incident and activated its emergency response plan. All crew were safe and accounted for. The company notified the relevant maritime authorities.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations centre reported two separate incidents in the area on the same day. A second explosion near Khasab, Oman caused no injuries. GasLog Shanghai had been carrying liquefied natural gas loaded in Qatar.
