A boat carrying four people struck a freighter off Tjörn, on Sweden's west coast, late on July 28. The alarm came in shortly after 10pm.
Two people were pulled from the water. A woman and a child are still missing.
All four had been in the boat together: a man and a woman in their 40s and two young children. The collision happened northwest of Älgön island, in the waters off Tjörn.
The Swedish Maritime Administration launched a major search. Coast guard, an ambulance, and a helicopter all responded. Drones swept the water in the dark. At 2:30am the operation paused. It picked up again at 7am.
Police located the freighter south of Tjörn and boarded it for a technical examination. The investigation is ongoing.
