About Vorupør Forfyr Lighthouse
Constructed in 1894, the Vorupør Forfyr stands as a 4-meter tall wooden building located on the dunes at Nørre Vorupør. The light, visible at a focal height of 20 meters, shows an occulting red signal every 4 seconds. The light emanates from a small rectangular window in the structure, which is painted with red and white horizontal bands. Between 2019 and 2021, a temporary light was utilized during nearby construction, with the original light subsequently returned to its site. This lighthouse provides a geographic range of 13.2 nautical miles.
Why it matters: This navigation aid offers reference for the local fishing community, marking the Danish west coast waters. Its unusual design, featuring a light shown through a window, distinguishes it architecturally.
