About Agger-Tange Forfyr Lighthouse
Also known as: #Agger-Tange Forfyr (Range Front) (?)
The Agger-Tange Forfyr was a 5-meter round cast iron lantern, painted red. Built in 1988, it stood 8 meters above sea level. This structure guided ships entering the Thyborøn Kanal, an inlet providing access to the Limfjord, and was situated just behind the beach on the north side of the inlet. It displayed an isophase white, red, and green light on a 4-second cycle, with a geographic range of 9.7 nautical miles. The lighthouse was removed around 2022.
Why it matters: The lighthouse was indispensable for maritime safety, guiding ships through the Thyborøn Kanal, a critical inlet connecting the North Sea to the Limfjord, ensuring safe passage into sheltered waters.
