Location & Light Range
About Thyborøn Tange Lighthouse
Built in 1911, this 6-meter round lighthouse is constructed of cast iron and wood. It features a white lantern and gallery with a red horizontal band, supported by brown wooden piles. The structure stands on the Havregade breakwater, on the south side of the inlet leading to the Limfjord. Its light exhibits two white, red, or green occulting flashes every 12 seconds, depending on the direction. The rear range light associated with this position was deactivated and relocated in 1988. The site is accessible to the public, though the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for safe passage into Thyborøn harbor and the Limfjord, a critical waterway for local shipping and fishing fleets.
