The Rt Ertak lighthouse, also known as Punta Ertac, stands on a promontory along the mainland side of the Velebitski Channel. Established in 1875, the light aids navigation approximately 2.5 km southeast of the highway 102 bridge to Otok Krk. The current structure features a 5-meter tall white cylindrical concrete tower with a gallery, connected to a 1-story square equipment building. Its focal height is 9 meters, and it emits a white flash every 2 seconds, visible for 10 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower remains closed.
Why it matters: This light is important for safe passage through the Velebitski Channel, a significant waterway for regional shipping along the Croatian coast.
