Established in 1871, the Jelsa North Mole lighthouse marks the end of the breakwater at the entrance to the port of Jelsa on Hvar island. This octagonal cylindrical stone tower, standing 6 meters tall, is topped with a green cone from which the light is displayed. With a focal height of 7 meters, it emits a green flash every 3 seconds and has a geographic range of 9.3 nautical miles. The lighthouse was constructed from stone and iron. It guides vessels arriving from Split or from ports on Brač island, such as Bol or Milna.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is significant for guiding vessels safely into Jelsa port. Its distinct tower structure also serves as a recognizable landmark at the harbor entrance.
