Mommark Vestmole Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Mommark Vestmole Lighthouse
This conical concrete tower, standing 7 meters tall, was built in 1904 at the end of the west mole in Mommark harbor. The structure, originally painted white, features a tapered design and a gallery. Its light characteristic was a fixed red, with a geographic range of 10 nautical miles and a focal height of 9 meters. After years of disuse, the lighthouse has recently been refurbished and repainted. The lantern has been removed from the tower.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is important for navigating the approach to Mommark harbor, serving the ferry terminal to Ærø. Its concrete construction from 1904 provides a glimpse into the region's past architectural practices.
