About Langelandsbælt Syd Lighthouse
Also known as: Langelandsbælt Syd (?)
Langelandsbælt Syd is a red, cylindrical tower 10 meters high, featuring a round lantern and gallery mounted on a tall mast. It is situated on the east side of the Langelandsbælt channel, near the southern end, approximately 8 kilometers east of Bukkemose on Langeland's southeast coast. Established in the 1970s, this navigational aid guided ships for decades. Although its light became inactive in 2012, it continues to function as a racon station, emitting radar signals. The site is accessible by boat, but the tower itself remains closed to the public.
Why it matters: This structure remains important as a racon station, providing interactive radar signals that assist vessels navigating the Langelandsbælt channel, especially near the Langeland coast.
