Højbjerg Ost Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Højbjerg Ost Lighthouse
This steel cylindrical tower, standing 10 meters tall, was established sometime in the 1970s and is painted green. It is situated on a tall mast topped with a round lantern and gallery. The lighthouse is located about 1.5 kilometers off the east coast of Langeland, Denmark, and 4 kilometers south of Spodsbjerg. Its light emits alternating red and green flashes every 5 seconds, providing sector guidance. The site is open to visitors who can access it by boat, but the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's flashing red and green sectors every 5 seconds offer precise directional information, guiding vessels through the channel off Langeland. Its green mast also functions as a distinct daymark for approaching vessels.
