Fyrskib X Lighthouse

🇩🇰Copenhagen, DKOperational

Built in 1877, this wooden lightship, Fyrskib X, is painted red with white trim and a white horizontal stripe. It served various Danish coastal stations for nearly a century before being decommissioned in 1972. The vessel subsequently transitioned through several owners and roles, including a club ship, an office, and a restaurant. It underwent refurbishment in England before returning to Denmark in 2008. Fyrskib X is 31.5 meters in length and has a light tower amidships. Despite settling to the seabed in 2013, it was raised and repaired.

Why it matters: As the world's oldest surviving lightship, Fyrskib X represents a direct link to the era of manned navigational aids and played a significant role in safeguarding Danish shipping routes for almost 100 years.
