Fur Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Fur Lighthouse
A triangular metal tower stands 6 meters tall on the northwestern side of Fur, an island in the Limfjord. First lit in 2007, this structure replaced an earlier lighthouse that was removed due to beach erosion. The current tower has a focal height of 13 meters and emits an occulting white, red, and green light every 5 seconds. Its light provides a geographic range of 11.3 nautical miles. The island itself is accessible by ferry from the mainland near Selde.
Why it matters: The lighthouse's directional light is important for vessels navigating the waterway around Fur island, helping mariners determine their position relative to the northwestern shore.
