About Frederikshavn Lighthouses Lighthouse
This cylindrical green lighthouse, standing 7 meters tall, was built and first lit in 1892. It features a lantern and gallery and emits a single red flash every 3 seconds, with a focal height of 7.5 meters and a geographic range of 9.5 nautical miles. Originally situated at the end of the north outer breakwater mole in Frederikshavn, it served to guide vessels into the port. The lighthouse ceased active operation in 2015 and was relocated to the waterfront near the Hotel Jutlandia. It has remained operational, though its current exact location may have changed since 2020.
Why it matters: The lighthouse preserves a tangible link to Frederikshavn's maritime past and the historical navigation of its busy port.
