Fornæs Lighthouse, built in 1892, is a cylindrical granite tower standing 27 meters tall. Located at the easternmost point of Jylland on the Djurs peninsula, it is situated about 4 kilometers northeast of Grenaa. The tower, unpainted and red in color, features a lantern and gallery. Its light emits a single white flash every 20 seconds. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed. The nearest port is Grenaa, located 1.8 kilometers away.
Why it matters: This lighthouse marks the critical easternmost point of Jylland, guiding vessels around the Djurs peninsula and through the Kattegat.
