Two RNLI stations brought a large group of migrants to safety off the Isle of Wight at the weekend, LBC News reported. Volunteers' names appeared on X within days.
Posts calling the lifesavers traitors spread fast. They drew thousands of comments. BBC News reported one volunteer had been singled out and branded a traitor after the rescue. LBC linked the campaign to Danny Thomas, described as a close associate of anti-migrant activist Tommy Robinson.
"We will rescue those in danger without judgement or preference, as the RNLI has been doing for more than 200 years," a spokesperson told LBC.
Separately, two ports refused the RNLI's requests to disembark those brought in from the Channel, BBC News reported.
