French and British coastguards rescued 157 people from the English Channel on the morning of August 4 after the engine of their dinghy caught fire. The boat's condition worsened fast. French rescue boats moved in alongside two British Border Security Command boats and a Royal National Lifeboat Institution crew. No deaths were reported. The survivors were brought to port at Boulogne-sur-Mer.
