MT ST 3 Hit in Strait of Hormuz, 15 Indian Crew Safe
AI illustrationA crude oil tanker was struck by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday. India's Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, confirmed that the tanker, MT ST 3, had 15 Indian seafarers on board and all were safe with no injuries. He posted the news on social media.
The source of the projectile was not publicly identified.
The attack came amid a run of strikes on tankers in the waterway. MT On Peace was struck in the same strait, injuring 12 of 19 crew, 11 of them Indian nationals. MT ST 3 is not connected to that tanker. Three days before Friday's strike, Iran hit a record six ships in the strait in a single day.
