Maran Gas Mystras struck exiting the Strait of Hormuz
AI illustrationThe Maran Gas Mystras was heading out of the Strait of Hormuz on or around 5 October when an unidentified projectile hit the ship and started a fire in its engine room. All 30 crew were safe. The ship continued to Fujairah.
Maran Gas Mystras is part of Maran Gas, the Angelicoussis group's gas fleet. It was the second Greek-linked ship struck at Hormuz in the space of a few days.
This is part of a pattern. Dynacom's Lipsi was struck in the same waterway the day before, making it the sixth ship hit in the area within a week. Four days earlier, a ship caught fire after a strike in the strait on 1 October and its crew put it out.
