CMA CGM Closes $1.4bn FedEx Logistics Buy
AI illustrationCMA CGM completed its $1.4 billion acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain in early October 2026, folding the contract logistics unit into its Ceva Logistics arm. Ceva's North American footprint nearly triples as a result.
Combined, the two businesses run 150 warehouses covering roughly 34 million square feet and employ around 20,000 people in those operations.
FedEx signed multi-year agreements with CMA CGM for ocean freight and air cargo capacity on Asia-Europe routes. Under the non-exclusive arrangement, CMA CGM becomes a preferred ocean carrier.
Group Chief Executive Rodolphe Saade said the deal supports "long-term commitment to investing in the United States" while advancing the group's strategy of expanding into logistics services less tied to shipping cycles.
The group's fleet kept moving through the close. The Sofrana Surville, operated by the group's Sofrana subsidiary, rescued four crew from a stricken yacht in the South Pacific in late September.
