About Taska Lighthouse
Also known as: Taska (Rif)
The Taska lighthouse is a 13-meter-tall cylindrical iron tower standing in the Breidafjörður, located off the village of Rif. Its structure features a round lantern and gallery atop a slender iron pole, painted green. The light emits a single green flash every three seconds, visible for 11.3 nautical miles. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed. It stands near the port of Rif, about 0.2 km away.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is critical for safe passage within Breidafjörður, especially for vessels approaching Rif. Its distinctive green flash aids navigation in the complex fjord environment.
