A square cylindrical concrete tower, 7 meters tall, stands on Bjarnarey, a small island off Cape Kollumúli. The tower, painted yellow with a red lantern, was built in 1944. Its light emits a white flash every 20 seconds, visible for 14.5 nautical miles. The focal height of the light is 26 meters above sea level. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself is closed. Bjarnarey is located 12.9 kilometers from the nearest port at Vopnafjordur.
