This concrete lighthouse stands 23 meters tall on Thormodh's Skerry, a small rocky island located about 13 kilometers northwest of Akranes in Faxaflói. Built and first lit in 1947, its cylindrical tower features a lantern and gallery. The concrete structure is distinguished by black panels on each face, creating the appearance of a vertical stripe. The lighthouse is operational and located approximately 9.3 kilometers from the nearest port of Akranes.
Why it matters: The lighthouse warns mariners away from Thormodh's Skerry and provides precise directional guidance with its sector light as ships approach or leave Akranes.
