About Krossvík Fremra Lighthouse
Also known as: Krossvík Fremra (ex-Range Front)
This lighthouse stands on the waterfront east of Akranes, Iceland, adjacent to an athletic field. Its square concrete tower, painted yellow or orange, stands 6 meters tall and supports a lantern and gallery. A red triangular daymark is mounted on a post on the gallery. The light, which has a focal height of 10 meters, emits an occulting white, red, or green light with a 5-second cycle. In 2018, the front range light was replaced with a directional light, and the rear light was discontinued. The site is open to the public, but the tower is closed.
