Caucus Channel Range Rear Lighthouse

Fl Red 4s🇺🇸USOperational

This skeletal steel tower, standing 20 meters tall, was built in 2021 to guide vessels into Pensacola Bay. It rises from a square concrete equipment shelter and is topped by a rectangular daymark, colored red with a white vertical stripe. The light emits a single red flash every 4 seconds. This structure replaced the previous range light which was destroyed by Hurricane Sally in September 2020. The lighthouse is located on the beach southwest of the Pensacola lighthouse, near Blue Angel Parkway.

Why it matters: This rear range light is indispensable for guiding all maritime traffic, from large commercial vessels to smaller recreational boats, safely through the primary entrance channel into Pensacola Bay.
