The world's largest container line halted new bookings to Russia's main Black Sea port on Wednesday after a drone hit one of its ships.
MSC Mediterranean Shipping Co. suspended bookings to and from Novorossiysk on August 26. A drone struck the container ship MSC ULSAN III while the ship was en route to the port. MSC directed customers to its Russia agency for help with alternative logistics.
A second line pulled its Black Sea service the same day. Russian state shipper FESCO also suspended bookings to Russia's Black Sea ports, The Maritime Executive reported.
MSC did not say when weekly service to Novorossiysk would restart.
MSC is the world's biggest container line. On MarineRadar, tracking activity for MSC jumped 6.5 times above the typical rate on August 26, with 13 unique devices tracking the company.
