Winnipeg Beach Lighthouse

Fl🇨🇦Rural Municipality of St. Andrews, CAOperational

Also known as: Winnipeg Beach (relocated to Chalet Beach)

The Winnipeg Beach Lighthouse was constructed in 1910 as a square wooden tower, standing 7 meters tall with a focal height of 10.8 meters. It originally served from the breakwater at Winnipeg Beach, emitting a red flash every 4 seconds. This navigational aid operated for over fifty years before its service concluded in 1963. The following year, the lighthouse was sold and relocated to Chalet Beach, approximately 10 kilometers south of its initial site. It has since been incorporated into a private residence.

Why it matters: The lighthouse is significant as a preserved relic of early 20th-century maritime activity on Lake Winnipeg, notable for its relocation from a breakwater to a private property.
