About Wando Hang East Breakwater Lighthouse
This green lighthouse, built in 2006, guides vessels at the north end of the Wando breakwater. The cylindrical concrete tower stands 10 meters tall and displays its light at a focal height of 18 meters. It features a black finish with a single red horizontal band and a lantern with a gallery. Its characteristic is a green flash every 6 seconds, visible for 12.7 nautical miles. This structure replaced an earlier east breakwater that was removed to make way for the new detached breakwater.
Why it matters: The lighthouse aids navigation around the northern end of the Wando breakwater, facilitating safe entry and departure from the harbor.
