About Aeweolgot Lighthouse
A 15-meter cylindrical concrete tower, the Aeweolgot Lighthouse is painted with its upper half black and its lower half yellow. It stands on the west side of Aeweol harbor, situated just off a promontory. While the lighthouse ceased operations in 2020, its site remains open to the public, though the tower itself is closed. This structure served the waters near Jeju city, with the nearest port being Jeju, 12.5 kilometers away. Its distinctive coloring made it a recognizable landmark for mariners.
Why it matters: The lighthouse marked the entrance to Aeweol harbor, a significant local port.
