About Victoria Harbour Range Rear Lighthouse
Constructed in 1910, this 10-meter-high, square pyramidal wood tower is painted white with red trim and a red vertical stripe on the former range line. It functioned as the rear range marker for Victoria Harbour, assisting ships approaching the port. The front range lighthouse was replaced by a skeletal tower in 1960. The light was deactivated in the late 1990s. The Tay Township Heritage Committee took possession in 2004, and after restoration, the structure was formally recognized again in 2012. The location is accessible, but the tower itself is not open.
