About Ven Lighthouse
Built in 1871, the Ven Lighthouse is an 11-meter tall cylindrical tower constructed of wood. It features an octagonal design topped with a lantern and gallery, and rises directly from a 1-1/2 story keeper's house. This integrated structure is located near the northwestern tip of Ven island, approximately 600 meters northwest of Kyrkbacken. The lighthouse is situated at the end of Fyrvägen, about 2 kilometers from the nearest port of Backviken. It is part of the Landskrona kommun within Skåne County.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is recognized for its unique architectural integration of the tower and keeper's house. It served as an important navigational aid for vessels in the Öresund strait near Ven island.
