About Valentia Lighthouse
Also known as: Valentia (Directional)
A 6-meter tall conical solid concrete tower, constructed and first illuminated in 2011, features a white finish with an orange vertical stripe. It stands next to a 1-story white equipment shelter. The light, with a focal height of 25 meters, covers a geographic range of 14.3 nautical miles. Its characteristic is Oc WGR 4s, indicating white, red, or green light depending on the direction. This structure took the place of a directional light from 1913, which had succeeded a daybeacon built in 1891.
Why it matters: The light's color variations provide clear directional signals for mariners approaching the area.
