About Brownstown Head Beacons Lighthouse
Two cylindrical stone towers, each about 10 meters tall, were built in 1820 on Brownstown Head. These unpainted structures were designed by George Halpin to serve as daybeacons. They mark the eastern side of the entrance to Tramore Bay, located approximately 8 kilometers southeast of Tramore. The site is open to the public, but the towers are closed. The nearest port is Dunmore East, 4.5 kilometers away.
Why it matters: These beacons, along with the Metal Man Beacons, create a navigational system for entering Tramore Bay.
