Tutuila Lightbeacons Lighthouse

This square pyramidal tower, painted with black and white checkers, stands 5 meters tall. Its focal height reaches 58 meters, casting a white or red light. The light produces a single white or red flash every 6 seconds, visible for nearly 20 nautical miles. The Tutuila Lightbeacons are situated on the east side of the entrance to Pago Pago Harbor, serving as the primary landfall light for the port. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself is closed. In September 2009, the structure experienced an earthquake and tsunami.

Why it matters: This light serves as the landfall guide for vessels approaching Pago Pago Harbor, aiding navigation into the port.
