About Tsarevo Breakwater Lighthouse
Also known as: Tsarevo Breakwater (East Mole)
This cylindrical stone tower, built in 1936, stands 10 meters tall at the end of Tsarevo's main breakwater. Its focal plane is 12 meters above sea level, and it emits a green flashing light every 4 seconds, visible for 11 nautical miles. Originally, the light was displayed from a skeletal tower atop the stone structure. This skeletal tower was replaced by a tall statue before 2017, creating a unique visual characteristic. The lighthouse complex is open for visitors to approach, but the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is essential for guiding vessels safely into the port of Tsarevo, serving local fishing boats and commercial traffic. It is a distinctive landmark along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, combining its navigational function with an artistic element.
