About Tranerodde Lighthouse
Also known as: Tranerodde (Traner Odde)
This cylindrical cast iron lighthouse was built in 1905 and first lit in the same year. Standing 10 meters tall with its focal height at 12 meters, the tower is painted white with a single red horizontal band. Its light flashes in a 2-second cycle, showing white, red, or green to indicate direction. The structure features a lantern and gallery. Tranerodde Lighthouse is situated on a promontory on the northeast side of Als, about 3 kilometers east of Danfoss. The site is open to the public, but the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse provides directional guidance for vessels navigating the waters on the northeast side of Als island and represents an example of early prefabricated cast iron lighthouse construction.
