Location & Light Range
About Syvdsfjorden Lighthouse
The Syvdsfjorden lighthouse was a square concrete tower standing 6 meters tall, with a focal height of 7 meters. Its white structure was topped by a red lantern roof, and it featured a lantern and gallery. The lighthouse emitted a single red flash. It was situated beside highway 652 on the east side of the Syvdsfjord, across from Eidsa. This navigational aid had a geographic range of 9.3 nautical miles and was operational until 2023, when it was removed. The site remains open to the public, though the tower is no longer present.
Why it matters: The lighthouse aided local shipping and fishing vessels in navigating the Syvdsfjord, particularly near Eidsa, and its removal reflects the ongoing modernization of maritime navigation aids.
