Agdenes Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Agdenes Lighthouse
Built in 1828, this cylindrical masonry tower stands 12 meters tall at the western entrance to the Trondheimfjord. Its original design presented navigational challenges, with the light being blocked from certain directions. This led to its decommissioning in 1984, when it was replaced by the offshore Ringflua Light. Following a renovation in 2005-06, the lighthouse briefly offered overnight stays. It is now revived as a venue for meetings and special events.
Why it matters: The lighthouse served as the oldest light station for the Trondheim area, marking the critical western gateway to the Trondheimfjord.
