Location & Light Range
About Store Skorøya Lighthouse
A 6-meter fiberglass tower marks the southern tip of Store Skorøya, an island off the southeast coast of Vannøy. This round tower, standing 13 meters above sea level, is painted white with two black horizontal bands and a red roof. It emits a single white flash every 10 seconds, visible for 11.3 nautical miles. The current structure replaced an earlier square wooden tower. The site is accessible by boat and is open to the public, though the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is essential for safe navigation around the southern tip of Store Skorøya, a critical point for vessels transiting the waters off Vannøy.
