About Snikspynten Lighthouse
Snikspynten lighthouse is a 5-meter cylindrical fiberglass tower located on the east side of the Karmsund at Snik, near Karmøy, Norway. Its white structure is topped with a red lantern roof, and the tower stands at a focal height of 6.5 meters. This active light emits two white flashes in a WRG sequence every 8 seconds, with the color changing to red or green depending on the direction. The lighthouse replaced a simpler post light, enhancing navigational capabilities in the area. Access to the site is permitted, though the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: The lighthouse provides precise directional guidance through the Karmsund, a significant waterway for local shipping and fishing. Its upgrade from a post light highlights its ongoing relevance for maritime safety in the region.
