About Slottsbredan Lighthouse
Slottsbredan lighthouse was built in 1944 as a concrete cylindrical tower standing 21 meters tall. It is painted black with a single green horizontal band and features a lantern with a double gallery. This structure is mounted on a round concrete pier situated on a shoal approximately 5 kilometers northwest of Borgholm, on the island of Öland. The light emits two white, red, or green flashes every 6 seconds, with the color changing depending on the direction. The site is open to visitors arriving by boat, but the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: This lighthouse warns vessels navigating the waters northwest of Borgholm of a submerged hazard. Its sector light provides specific directional warnings, guiding ships away from the shoal.
