About Sjællands Rev Nord Lighthouse
This cylindrical tower, built in 1971, stands 26 meters tall on a submerged rocky reef in the Kattegat. It is distinguished by its white coloring and a single red horizontal band. The structure includes a lantern, gallery, and a helipad on its uppermost level. The lighthouse emits an isophase white, red, or green light on a 2-second cycle. Located northwest of the Sjællands Odde spit, it warns vessels of the reef. Restoration work was completed in 2017. While the site is accessible by boat, the tower is closed to the public.
Why it matters: The Sjællands Rev Nord lighthouse is indispensable for maritime safety, guiding vessels away from the dangerous submerged Sjællands Rev rocky reef and helping ships navigate the busy waters connecting the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.
