About Sisserodde Lighthouse
Also known as: Sisserodde (Forfyr)
Built in 1921, the Sisserodde Lighthouse is a square concrete and wood tower standing 5 meters tall, with its light positioned 8 meters above sea level. It features a white tower with a single red horizontal band. The lighthouse is situated about 3 kilometers southeast of Bjerne, along the Bjerne Langgyde. This structure guides ships into the harbor of Fåborg, navigating the narrow passage between the mainland of Fyn and the island of Bjørnø. In 1996, its illumination was updated to an occulting white, red, and green light with a 2-second cycle, indicating different navigational sectors. The site is open to visitors, though the tower itself remains closed.
Why it matters: The lighthouse is important for guiding ships through the narrow passage into Fåborg harbor, between Fyn and Bjørnø.
