Saudeholmen Lighthouse
Location & Light Range
About Saudeholmen Lighthouse
A 6-meter tall cylindrical fiberglass tower, painted white with a red lantern roof, stands on a skerry in the Rovdefjord. This structure, which also includes a gallery, replaced an older square wooden tower. Its focal height is 9.5 meters, and it emits an occulting white, green, or red light on a 6-second cycle. The lighthouse is situated about 3 km southeast of Larsnes, off the south coast of Gurskøy. The site is open to the public, though the tower itself is closed.
Why it matters: This lighthouse guides vessels through the Rovdefjord's waters with its directional light that changes color depending on the approach.
