Constructed in 1871, Salmon Point Lighthouse is a square, 9-meter tall wooden tower. It originally featured a lantern and gallery attached to a 1-1/2 story keeper's house. The light source produced a white flash every 4 seconds, visible for 12.2 nautical miles. The lighthouse marked the southwestern tip of the Quinte Peninsula, located in a campground off county route 18 west of Cherry Valley. Though it ceased operation in 1917, the structure later served as a vacation rental. Currently, the lighthouse is abandoned and endangered.
