About Runden Lighthouse
Also known as: Runden (Hysvær)
Runden lighthouse is situated on a skerry at the southeastern edge of the Hysvær group, a collection of small islands northwest of Vega. The structure consists of a 7-meter lantern and gallery supported by four black piles, with the lantern painted white and topped by a red roof. It emits an occulting white, red, or green light with a 6-second cycle. This light has a geographic range of 9.3 nautical miles. While the site is open to visitors arriving by boat, the tower itself is closed to the public.
Why it matters: This light guides local boaters and visitors through the complex Hysvær group. Its distinct light sectors warn of the skerry it marks and other nearby dangers.
