Pumpkin Island Light was established in 1854 on the northwestern entrance to Eggemoggin Reach. The original structure, built in the same year it was first lit, stands 6.7 meters tall with a focal height of 8.5 meters. This light station served the channel connecting Penobscot Bay and Blue Hill Bay. Operations ceased in 1933, and the island and former light station are now privately owned. The Pumpkin Island Light Station was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 1, 1988.

The light station was established in 1854 and discontinued in 1933. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Pumpkin Island Light Station on February 1, 1988.
