About Prišnjak Lighthouse
Built in 1886, Prišnjak Lighthouse stands on a small, rocky islet northwest of the island of Murter in Croatia. The original light was shown from a keeper's house window, as confirmed by lists from 1920. Following this period, an octagonal stone tower, 15 meters high, was added to the seaward end of the 1-story keeper's house. The white stone tower features a lantern and gallery, and its focal height reaches 19 meters. The lighthouse emits a white flash every 10 seconds, visible for 12.9 nautical miles. It continues to operate as an active navigational aid.
Why it matters: This lighthouse is significant for safe passage around Murter island, guiding vessels through its numerous channels and shoals.
