About Port Stanley Breakwater Lighthouse

Constructed in 1908, this 9.5 meter square concrete tower stands on the west side of the harbor entrance at Port Stanley. Painted white, it is mounted atop a 1-story pyramidal concrete base. The lighthouse emits a green flash every five seconds, visible for 10.7 nautical miles. Its placement marked the completion of a new breakwater for the port. The structure was designated a Heritage Lighthouse in July 2016. The Municipality of Central Elgin received the deed and a grant for its restoration and maintenance in the same month.
