Painted white, it featured a fluorescent red vertical stripe to align with its corresponding front range light. The structure stood 11 meters tall, with its focal plane at 17 meters. For decades, it emitted a steady white light, guiding vessels entering Pictou Harbour from the north. The range lights were relocated in 1909. This lighthouse ceased operations in 2012 and was subsequently demolished.
