This sparkplug lighthouse is situated in Plum Gut, off Orient Point, New York. The narrow gap connects Long Island Sound to the area between Orient Point and Plum Island. Construction was completed in 1899, with the light first activated that same year. The tower stands 16 meters tall, with its focal plane at 19.5 meters. It originally projected a white flashing light with a geographic range of 14 nautical miles. Automation of the station occurred in 1954.
